Guilty Pleasure


Lets face it each and every one of us has that one special food related 
guilty pleasure.
It could be chocolate.
Maybe a slice of apple pie.
Or maybe a big bowl of pasta?
It makes you feel good to eat it.

And we all know that indulging in these guilty pleasure
usually goes straight to our hips or thighs 
and stays there.

But it is okay!
It is not the end of the world.
And shouldn't be the end of your weight loss journey.
In fact, it could be a good thing to indulge 
in a bite or two.
Take a bite, 
Get it out of your system 
And then jump back on the horse.
You can do it! 
Don't let it consume you with guilt.

Food Hangover


Have you ever woken up feeling bloated, irritable, foggy, tired, fat and just all around not feel good?
If so you may be suffering from a Food Hangover!

I woke up this way this morning.
Yes, I had a "cheat" weekend.
I consciously made the decision that I was going to eat whatever I felt like.
Mostly it wasn't food that was "bad" for my diet,
it was the amount that I ate.
And yes, the scales reflected it this morning!
Up 2 whole pounds!  
I don't feel bad about gaining the 2 lbs
But I do feel bad that I have to lose them again.
Its so hard to lose them in the first place!

So today I am doing a yogurt day.

Guinea Pig Day Results



The Guinea Pig Results are in!
If you follow along with my journey 
you know that yesterday I posted 
I was being a guinea pig and trying out the latest HCG stall fix
a "FAGE" Day.
First let me say I was not in a stall!
My weight loss has been going according to my goal.

On my "FAGE" Day 
I lost 2.6 lbs!
So am now down a total of 
13.4 lbs
for this round of the HCG Protocol!

While I do not recommend doing a FAGE day unless you really are in a stall,
It does appear to work.

Lemon Ginger Detox Drink



Start your day with this tasty detox drink!

Lemon Ginger Detox Drink

Ingredients:
1 12 oz glass of water at room temperature
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 inch knob of ginger root

Directions:
Add the lemon juice to the glass of water
Finely grate the ginger using a zester.
Add to water.
Enjoy! 





"Fage" Day


Today I making a guinea pig of myself and trying something new to see what kind of results I get.

What is a "Fage" Day?
If you are familiar with the HCG Diet Protocol,
then you have probably heard of the "Apple" or "Steak" day to correct a stall in weight loss (Phase2)
or a weight gain (Phase 3)

The newest rage is called a "Fage" Day
Fage is a brand of Greek yogurt
that comes in 0%, 2% and full fat varieties.

I'm Back! And Ready to Go!


After several days with a really nasty stomach virus
I am back and ready to jump back into my weight loss journey!

A trip to the Dr told me that I had become severely dehydrated 
during the past few days.

Dieting and Sickness



According to all the news reports,
 the reported cases of the flu are on the rise and running rampant across the entire nation.
I seem to have caught some type of bug myself
although I am not sure if it is the flu at this point.
My stomach is a mess.
My temperature is slightly elevated.
I just plain don't feel well.

I have never experienced these type of symptoms while doing the HCG protocol. 
Which leads me to believe it is something more.
I did not gain nor lose on today's weigh in.
I remained the same as yesterday.
I am going to take it easy today and see things go.
I will continue with the Phase 2 protocol
until I know for sure if this is the flu.

Apple Cinnamon Water





Apple Cinnamon Water
Did you know that both apples and cinnamon raise your metabolism?
They also boost your potassium and magnesium

Makes one big pitcher:
Use 1 apple thinly sliced and 1 cinnamon stick.
refill water 3 to 4 times before replacing apples and cinnamon.

Down another 1.2 lbs today!

YAY ME!
Goal number one achieved!

I have been watching the new season of the Biggest Loser.
While I applaud the contestants for their determination,
they are being pushed beyond their limits 
to achieve the amount of weight loss I have accomplished in just four days!
I have attempted many types of dieting and exercise
 in my life and the HCG diet is the perfect jumpstart for me.
It is teaching me to make a lifestyle change. 
While doing the Phase 2 portion of the HCG Protocol
Exercise is not recommended.
However in Phase 3 I can being an exercise regime
 to enhance the new body I am now achieving.

Does Anyone Read This?


I had to laugh when I saw this!
Since starting this blog a couple of weeks ago I have as of yet no followers and no comments!
Makes me wonder if I am spinning my wheels?
But I will keep posting!
Maybe one thing I post will make a  difference in one persons journey!


Results, Stress and Alcohol

Day 3 Results... the good news is that I am down another pound.
That is a total of 8 pounds in 3 days!
The bad news is that I drank a glass of wine last night before going to bed.

Which leads me to examine why I felt the need to sabotage myself and my goals.
If you are trying to lose weight and are dealing with too much stress in your life, your body may be going through processes that sabotage your weight loss efforts.
Stress causes your body to release cortisol, which is a stress hormone.
When you body releases an excess of cortisol it interferes with your metabolic processes.

 On New Years Eve, my daughter (age 31) suffered a minor stroke. 
She is in good health, not overweight and this was totally unexpected.
As a Mom, I have worried myself sick.
As a Mom when your child, no matter what age, is hurt or sick you stress over what you can do to help. 
It a natural instinct.
My sleep for the past week has not been good.
I thought maybe having a glass of wine would help me to sleep better even if just for one night.
It didn't help.
I tossed an turned all night long. 
Some good news is that she seems to be doing okay
 and at this point has somewhat recovered from her ordeal.
A bit more good news is that I can keep going on my weight loss journey 
and learn from my mistake.

Boredom and Late Night Snacking



Do you turn to food to alleviate boredom?
I know I used to!
A great way to tell is when you feel hungry instead of eating try first drinking a glass of water.
Water is a dieters best friend. 
It will fill you up without all the calories of eating a snack. 
Often times you will find that one you have drunk some water the hunger pains will disappear!



Are you a late night snacker?
This has always been one of my greatest problems. 
In the past few days I have finally come to understand why!
 If you're eating in the middle of the night, you're more likely to overeat and make poor food choices.
During the day, your brain and muscles use some of the calories you eat for fuel, and the rest gets stored in the liver in the form of glycogen. At night, your body converts that glycogen into glucose and releases it into your bloodstream to keep your blood-sugar levels steady while you sleep. Once the stored glycogen is gone, your liver starts burning fat cells for energy. Yes, you read that right—you burn fat while you sleep.
If you get those night time cravings its your brain telling you its time to go to bed.
You body needs adequate rest to burn those stores of fat.
A body needs 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night.

Day 3 of the Gorge and Shopping Day



Day 3 of gorging and its been tough!  
It amazes me how hard it it to do the gorging phase when obviously 
overeating is what got me here in the first place!

Time to make a shopping list and head off to the grocery store!
Tomorrow will be day number 1 of the very low calorie diet and I want to be prepared.

Below is Dr Simeons' Protocol.
The dos and dont's. 
As with any weight loss regime,
I have learned on my previous rounds that you have to experiment and find what works for you.
There are some great recipes that I will be sharing that work well with the VLCD.
Stay tuned!


PROTOCOL DIET 

1. Liquids: You must drink at least two quarts of water, but up to a 
gallon is preferred. This amount of fluid should be spaced throughout 
the day. It is best to use filtered water instead of tap. (1 rule of thumb is 
to divide your weight in half and drink that many ounces of water 
minimum per day). 
2. Breakfast: Tea (herbal, green black etc.) in any quantity. You may 
drink tea or coffee throughout the day if desired. You may sweeten your 
tea or coffee with stevia. 
3. Lunch and Dinner: Your choice of 3.5 ounces (measured raw) of 
super lean beef, veal, chicken breast, turkey breast, white fish, lobster, 
crab, shrimp. 
Ensure that the meat is very lean with no marbling. All visible fat must 
be removed before cooking. The meat can be cooked by broiling, 
grilling, or boiling with no additional fat or oils. Again, all meat is to be 
carefully weighed in the uncooked state. 
Vegetables, from the following list can be chosen per meal: (calories 
shown are for ½ cup) You may mix your vegetables, however, if you 
stall on weight loss one of the first tricks to stop a stall is to stop mixing 
your vegetables. 

Cauliflower (32) Lettuce, chard, bok choy, beet (13) 
Broccoli (32) Asparagus (26) 
Celery, fennel (8) ½ cup eggplant 
Cabbage (24) 1 tomato (18) 
Cucumbers (10) Radishes (13) 
Green or red pepper (18) Zucchini 
Spinach (23) Mushrooms (15) 
Onions (49) 
It is best to eat the vegetables raw if possible. You can eat celery, 
lettuce or cucumbers in any reasonable portion if you are hungry. 

1 Fruit, from the following list, may be chosen per meal or you may 
use it as a snack (fruits should be eaten at least 6 hours apart): 
10 Strawberries 
½ Grapefruit 
1 Orange 
1 Apple 
½ cup cherries, raspberries or blueberries 
MISC. 

You may have the juice of one lemon per day as well as one tablespoon 
of milk per day. 

With each meal you may choose a fat free or very low fat cracker 
serving that is around 50 calories per serving. Ryvita, stoned wheat 
thins, Melba toast, or grissini’s are great choices.

Paying attention to the way your clothes are fitting is a great tool to tell if your weight loss plan is working.
Try taking measurements once a week. 
It is a great feeling to see those inches disappearing !

Let the Gorging Commence!



Change is difficult, yet as hard as it is, everyone had the ability to make and keep meaningful changes in their life, regardless of their age.
The beginning is always the hardest. Life rewards those who work hard at it.
Let the Gorging Commence!

Days 1-3
Take the drops and GORGE. Eat as much as you can and focus on fatty, oily, greasy fried foods.
Like peanut butter, French Fries, McDonalds would be a great choice.
You can eat whatever you want but sometimes carbs and sugars will make you gain more that you want.
The idea is to get the HCG into your system while you flood your body with fat.
This way you will not be hungry com day four which is the first day on VLCD (very low calorie diet) 

This has always been the hardest part for me. 
You would think that eating, and eating a LOT would not be hard to do but it is!
