Inadvertent Experiment

Two weeks ago I started another round of the HCG Protocol.
And as always the first few days were great,
losing 6 lbs.

A question arose in my mind
What would happen if you ate as you normally do while taking the HCG Drops?
I know that Dr Simeon did extensive research before reaching and conclusions
and publishing his HCG Protocol
but I am the type of person that
really wants to try it herself.

So me being the researcher that I am,
I decided to give it a try.
I wrote down in my journal everything I ate each day.
I ate like I would normally eat without being on the HCG Protocol.
Included, bread, pasta, sweets. etc.
Some days I ate only vegetables and fruits (healthy foods)
Other days I are more than I normally would,
just for the sake of this experiment.

My conclusions,
It is possible to lose a few pounds on the HCG protocol
without making changes however the loss is minimal at best.
I learned that while eating all the bread, pasta, sweets etc
my body felt sluggish and I has a loss of energy.

On the days that I ate mostly vegetables and fruit,
I lost 2+ lbs.

On the days that I overate (yes even on the veggie and fruit day) (1500 or more cals)
I invariably had a slight weight gain.

I did a couple of days without drinking the required amount of water
and found myself bloated the next day.

When eating sweets,
I found that it made me hungrier!

So I basically learned that yes, while doing the HCG Drops,
you should stick to the protocol if you want to lose
a LOT of weight.
As I have stated before,
every person is different.
We all have a different metabolism.
In my case, I have to eat 800-1000 calories a day
for the protocol to be most effective for me.
Since first being introduced to HCG
I have lost a total of 45lbs.
This Program does work if you follow the protocol.

I am giving my body a week's respite
form the abuse I gave it
over the past two weeks
and will begin another round
next Monday.

Spice That Are Good For You

Most dried herbs and spices are low in calories, providing about 4 to 7 calories per teaspoon. So feel free to use them even if you are following a low-calorie regimen. Some are surprisingly good sources of nutrients. Paprika is an excellent source of vitamin A, parsley is rich in vitamin C, cumin is an unexpected source of iron, and caraway seeds even contribute a little calcium to your diet.
New research findings suggest that several herbs are also rich sources of antioxidants that may possibly prevent the growth of cancer cells and protect delicate arteries from oxidizing damage that begins the buildup of plaque. Among them: allspice, basil, clove, coriander, dill, fennel leaves, mint, nutmeg, parsley, rosemary, and sage.
Aside from their nutrient and antioxidant contents, there are many health claims made for individual herbs. Here are but a few: Mint relieves gas and nausea; cinnamon enhances insulin's activity; oregano has antiseptic properties; sage contains compounds that act as antibiotics; thyme is said to relieve cramps.

Cayenne pepper brings heat with its main ingredient, capsaicin, that helps burn fat and suppress appetite. It also increases metabolism, causing the body to burn more calories,

Cinnamon reduces blood sugar and LDL cholesterol (the bad kind). Studies show that this treat can boost metabolism and increase insulin levels, lowering the chance of pre-diabetes.

Not only does black pepper improve digestion, it also helps burn fat at a faster rate. In fact, black pepper can "potentially burn as many calories as walking for 20 minutes,

Turmeric, a bright orange spice commonly found in India, helps break down fat and regulate the body's metabolism.

ginger can suppress appetite, aid digestion, remove toxins and raise the temperature of the body to boost metabolism

Cumin helps the digestive process and production of energy while boosting the immune system. It may also help those with asthma, arthritis, kidney disease and colon cancer, according to some research.
Fennel can be used to help with bloating, flatulence, mild digestive spasms, catarrh, and coughs. It also has antimicrobal, antispadmodic, and anti inflammatory properties.

Garlic is also known to help stimulate the immune system, and to help in fighting cancer. Well documented health benefits include lowering cholesterol, fighting infections, and reducing blood pressure.

Are you doing it right?

Some dieters may wondering why they are not losing like they expected to lose?
Here's some possible reasons.

Expectations not realistic: The majority of participants will lose an average of just under a pound a day. This means that some people lose more than a pound (usually large males) and some lose as little as .2 pounds average per day. If your scale is registering a loss of any size, you are NOT in a stall. Women especially tend to lose in a stair-step fashion. Many times you are losing inches when you are not losing weight.

Stationary Period: The first is the one that has already been mentioned in which the weight stays stationary for a day or two, and this occurs, particularly towards the end of a course, in almost every case.

Plateaus: A plateau lasts 4-6 days and frequently occurs during the second half of a full course, particularly in patients that have been doing well and whose overall average of nearly a pound per effective injection have been maintained. Those who are losing more than the average will all have a plateau sooner or later. A plateau always corrects itself, but many patients who have become accustomed to a regular daily loss get unnecessarily worried. No amount of explanation convinces them that a plateau does not mean that they are no longer responding normally to treatment.

Dietary Errors
“Any interruption of the normal loss of weight which does not fit perfectly into one of those categories is always due to some possibly very minor dietary error. Similarly, any gain of more than 100 grams is invariably the result of some transgression or mistake, unless it happens on or about the day of ovulation or during the three days preceding the onset of menstruation, in which case it is ignored. In all other cases the reason for the gain must be established at once.”

Not following the plan to the “T”
o Not enough fluids
o Not enough calories
o Too many calories
o Eating foods not specified by Dr. S.
o Using beverages not allowed
o Adding fats and sugars

Jazz up your food!

Want to jazz up your food on the HCG Diet? Peppers are a great way to do it. They are a FREE food in terms of calories. They have lost of other great health benefits too!

HEALTH BENEFITS OF EATING SPICY FOOD

1. Helps in Losing Weight: Hot peppers contain Capsaicin which can speed up metabolism and help the body burn calories faster. This is because Capsaicin increases your body temperature and contributes to an increase in your heart rate. Furthermore, studies have shown that people who eat spicy foods eat smaller portions which can reduce their calories intake.

2. Good for heart: Hot peppers may help to improve heart health by improving the body's ability to dissolve blood clots. Research has shown that low-density cholesterol (LDL or bad cholestrol) resisted oxidation for a longer period of time (which can clog your arteries) when chili was added to the diet, thus reducing the heart stroke risk. The capsaicin in peppers also fights inflammation, which has been identified as a risk factor for heart disease. Additionally statistics show that cultures that eat spicy foods frequently have a much lower rate of heart attack and stroke.

3. Improved circulation: Spicy foods also promote good circulation, and they appear to lower blood pressure. When you eat spicy food, your body's temperature is raised; therefore, it increases your blood flow and gets your heart pumping. Peppers help strengthen the blood vessel walls as they are high in vitamin A and C.

4. Anti cancer: Many studies have shown that regular consumption of chilies and curry decrease the risk of cancer. Capsaicin slows the growth of cancer cells and in some cases, even causes the cancer cells to die off without harming the surrounding cells. In countries where diets are traditionally high in capsaicin like India and Mexico, people tend to have lower rates of some cancers.

5. Improved digestion: Spices also improve your digestion because they increase the hydrochloric secretion of your stomach. This in turn will increase blood flow to the stomach and even increase the mucous lining. Capsaicin also helps to kill bacteria like H. pylori and help to prevent or cure stomach ulcers. However, if you get heartburn from spicy foods, try taking an antacid relief tablet which will neutralize acids in the stomach.

6. Arthritis: Turmeric (haldi) reduces joint inflammation and bone destruction in people. Circumin present in turmeric helps to alleviate the pain associated with arthritis.

7. Cold and Flu: Capasicin promotes sweating and eases the discomfort of cold and flu symptoms. It also helps to open up the nasal passages. It may also reduce sinusitis, and other flu symptoms.

8. Improved Sleep Pattern: Australian researchers have found that people who regularly consumed spicy meals fell asleep more easily. They also woke up easier and had more energy throughout the day.

9. Mood lifter: Chili peppers boost the level of endorphins and serotonin that dulls pain and give us a feeling of well being. It can act as a depression fighter and powerful stress reliever.

10. Improves breathing: Hot peppers act as an expectorant, and can help people with asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, sinusitis, and other respiratory conditions breathe easier. Hot peppers can help you to breathe better by opening up clogged nasal passages.

However, it is important to take spicy foods moderately especially if you have sensitive stomach or you simply have a low tolerance for them. Learn to have your food spicy and hot and enjoy the amazing heath benefits of spicy foods.

Love Handles vs Muffin Top

Are they "love handles" or a "muffin top?"

Muffin Tops are usually associated with women, but men have them too! You don't have to be "fat" to have a muffin top, it's actually that little bit of flesh you have at your sides or under your belly button that sometimes hangs over when you wear your "skinny" jeans.
Muffin Tops hang over all the way around your body.. front and rear.

"Skinny" people have muffin tops too!
It's really just about where your pants fall on your body and how tight the waistband is and the tightness of the shirt you are wearing.

Men tend to call them "love handles"
Love Handles may sound (and feel) warm and delicious,
but for most people, it's one of the hardest places to lose weight.
The two fatty deposits that hang over the back of your jeans are usually considered "love handles"

Our HCG Alternative can help you get rid of both
Muffin Top and Love Handles
whichever you choose to call them.
